Teacher in a Backpack - Second Grade (Set of 15)

These ready-to-use, Science of Reading–aligned K–5 literacy kits help students maintain and strengthen reading skills during summer break or other long breaks from school. Each kit reviews skills taught in the student’s previous grade and includes easy-to-follow daily routines supported by teacher-led instructional videos.

The K–2 kits focus on phonics-based decoding using decodable texts. Activities reinforce phonics, word mapping, word chaining, high-frequency words, comprehension (both explicit and inference-based), and fluency to support accuracy and automaticity.

The 3–5 kits use grade-appropriate texts that emphasize morphemes and word parts. Activities strengthen syllabication, morphology, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency to support efficient reading of multisyllabic words and deeper text understanding.
